Highland Training Center Coach

The Highland Training Center is seeking energetic and outgoing individuals with a passion for riding to join our team.  Lead group lessons in downhill mountain biking skills and assist with camps and other training programs.  Coaches serve as ambassadors for Highland as well as the sport of mountain biking in general.  Coaches use their own experiences and personalities to provide guests with a positive experience while following lesson guides and best practices set forth by Highland Training.

Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 17 years of age with reliable transportation. 
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years riding experience.
  • Must ride at a strong intermediate to advanced level of skill.  Familiarity with Highland’s trail network is a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable with speaking in front of groups. 
  • Must exhibit patience, maturity, and dependability. 
  • Must complete and pass an annual background check.
  • Must be available weekends and holidays.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.  Uniforms and protective wear are provided.
  • Must provide his/her own full-suspension bike.

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Coach riders of various skills, fitness, and experience, the fundamentals of the sport with emphasis on risk management, skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun. 
  • Facilitate group lessons and activities as scheduled by supervisors.
  • Adhere to Highland Mountain Bike Park policies, objectives, and rules. 
  • Adhere to NSAA Park S.M.A.R.T. guidelines and etiquette standards.

 

Time Commitment: 

Coaches hired to work through the Highland Training Center have commitments that range from part-time to full-time and may span the entire riding season.  Highland Training Center programs and services are offered late-April through mid-November annually. 

 

Training Upon Hire:

Highland’s coaches are the foundation of our successful training and summer camp programs. We have developed a comprehensive set of coaching resources and standards to ensure that our coaches feel supported, knowledgeable, and prepared to be outstanding as both coaches and mentors.  Highland Mountain Bike Park takes the safety of all our guests very seriously. Therefore, we require all coaches to pass a background check and adhere to our best practices standards and policies.
