QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience organizing or working in outdoor events, races, or leagues (mountain biking a plus)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions
- Ability to lead volunteers and manage multiple moving pieces
- Basic knowledge of mountain bike trails, riding culture, and safety best practices
- Familiarity with race timing systems or willingness to learn
- Must be available for race nights (likely weekday evenings) and limited pre-event hours
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pre-Race Planning:
- Work with team to design race formats and weekly course layouts
- Communicate race information to participants (emails, social media, updates)
- Maintain registration and results tracking
- Coordinate with other departments for trail availability, maintenance, and weather contingencies
- Race Day Operations:
- Oversee race setup, including course marking, signage, and timing equipment
- Coordinate volunteers and support staff
- Manage racer check-in and plate/chip timing distribution
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during the event
- Host awards after the race, and post results in a timely and accurate manner
Schedule: Part-time, must be available on race days, with most hours occurring on afternoons/evenings. The race series will run on Thursdays for 5 weeks in the spring (May 8th – June 5th), and a separate summer series on Fridays with exact dates to be confirmed.
